Plant City Sued Over 911 Call in Woman's Death
The city of Plant City faces a lawsuit in the 2008 death of a Tampa woman who called 911 from inside a car trunk before she was killed. The woman, Jennifer Johnson, 31, was kidnapped Nov. 15, 2008. She spoke with a Plant City 911 operator via a cell phone. Johnson told the operator that she was inside the trunk of her car and didn't know where she was. Three women struck by a motorcycle during a Plant City Police Department demonstration on Nov. 18 have filed lawsuits asserting that the city failed to provide safety barriers and seating beyond the vehicle's path of travel. The Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce also is named as a defendant in the lawsuits. The chamber hosted the motorcycle demonstration for its annual leadership program.
